Real-time Driver Behaviour Monitoring and Incident Management for Heavy Machinery Operation

Nov.03.2026

Challenge

This project serves a major Chinese renewable energy enterprise specializing in wind and solar power, with operations across multiple regions nationwide, primarily in mountainous areas. To support project implementation, the company operates a large fleet of heavy machinery in remote areas with challenging terrain. With vehicles spread across multiple sites, the company needs better visibility into vehicle movements and surrounding conditions to improve operational coordination and on-site safety.

Previously, the client relied primarily on manual fleet management, making it difficult to track vehicle locations in real time and verify driver identities after an incident. In addition, heavy machinery often creates significant blind spots. Drivers may struggle to spot nearby personnel, equipment, or obstacles in time. To improve fleet management and operational safety, the client identified three key challenges:

Real-Time Tracking and Driver Behavior Monitoring

Multi-Angle Video Monitoring

Proactive Risk Detection and Alerts

Solution

Hardware

To address the client's needs, the project deployed the V6 PRO multi-channel vehicle video terminal, integrating real-time vehicle tracking, multi-channel video monitoring, and intelligent driving assistance. The device supports a wide range of well-established functions for driver behavior monitoring and incident management.

Challenge

Video Visibility via Up to 4 Channels

The device supports four independent video channels, covering the front, rear, sides, and cabin. This provides a clearer view of the vehicle's surroundings and helps reduce blind spots during operation. The main camera records Full HD (1920 × 1080) video with a 105° field of view. Together, the four cameras provide comprehensive coverage of the vehicle's surroundings and cabin.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

With an ADAS algorithm, the device can detect risky driving behaviors such as harsh acceleration, harsh braking, harsh cornering, and collisions. It also alerts drivers to potential collision risks, helping enhance safety during operations.

Driver Monitor System (DMS)

When paired with an optional DMS camera, the system uses AI algorithms to detect abnormal driver behaviors and issue timely alerts. It also supports facial recognition for accurate driver check-in, further enhancing driver safety management.

Bluetooth Oil Rod Detection
Equipped with Bluetooth oil rod detection, the system collects real-time fuel level data, enabling accurate fuel consumption monitoring and more efficient fuel management.
Round-the-clock Recording

Powered by an ultra-low-power MA-level SOC architecture, the system supports 24/7 video recording. In the event of a collision or dangerous incident, critical video can be uploaded to the cloud, providing reliable evidence for incident investigation and safety reviews.

Software

Beyond hardware deployment, CANMORE also provides software platform support. Through the WhatsGPS Platform, managers can customize driver groups,  configure driving behavior scoring, and set up driver check-in rules. Combined with comprehensive platform data and analytics, these features enable more efficient driver management.

Meanwhile, by activating the platform’s AI assistant, managers can quickly access specific driving data for individual drivers. The results are presented through visual charts and data reports. These provide clear insights into driver performance, potential risks, and overall fleet operations, supporting more effective driver management and safety assessments.

Challenge

In addition, the platform provides multi-dimensional reports on vehicle stops, trips, speeding, and other key events, ensuring traceable operational records and improving incident management efficiency.

Results

01 | Comprehensive Fleet Management

Real-time tracking, multi-angle video monitoring, and data integration provide managers with better visibility into vehicle operations and surrounding conditions. Integrated platform data also helps them oversee daily fleet activities and review incidents more efficiently.

02 | Improved Driving Safety

ADAS alerts, driving behavior analysis, and DMS help identify potential driving risks early. These features allow managers to respond to safety concerns more effectively and strengthen driver safety management.

03 | Evolved through collaboration

This partnership has evolved alongside the client's growing fleet management needs. Feedback from real-world operations continued to drive product improvements, creating a positive cycle in which better solutions supported more efficient client management.
